Would You Use This Over Webflow?

Pinegrow's AI works with Claude Code and Codex - exposing Webflow's closed-source problem. ๐Ÿ”“ Why be stuck in Webflow's goldfish bowl when you can use the best AI tools directly? Yeah, Pinegrow's UI looks painful, but if it gets the job done and makes you money, does beautiful design really matter? The interoperability advantage is huge - open tools will always beat walled gardens. Sometimes ugly and functional beats pretty and limited. ๐ŸŽฏ โ€” TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 - Pinegrow's AI 0:42 - Webflow's Closed-Source Problem ๐Ÿ”’ 2:19 - The Framers vs Open Source Debate โš”๏ธ 3:18 - Does UI Really Matter? ๐Ÿค” 4:09 - Functionality Over Beauty ๐ŸŽฏ 5:11 - The Webflow Goldfish Bowl ๐Ÿ  6:15 - What is "CMD + AI"? โ€” LINKS & RESOURCES: ๐Ÿ“ท Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cmdaishow/ โ€” #pinegrow #webflow #ai #webdesign #nocode #opensource #cmdai

So our old friend Pinerow uh is using their AI assistant uh which now works with existing chatbt and claude code subscriptions and you know this is a cool feature. I don't anticipate many Pinrow users are in the audience right now. It's it's kind of like no code tool that you run on your local machine and it generates the files and you can do whatever you want with those files and it's intended to be like a WordPress theme builder but you can just build static websites with it stuff like that. very very powerful because it's completely limitless. Um it's surprising how abstracted web flow is compared to Pinerow because you can create any element. You can see on the lefth hand side here is any element you can add whatever very very powerful. They have an AI assistant and you can use it with claw code or codeex which is actually really nice. I take some credit for this because I was in the forum saying look I'm using claw code to uh edit my pine grow my pine grow projects but I need it to like detect that I'm using it but the reason why I raised this is just just because like obviously web flow conf was last week and they've got that AI assistant and like you know whether you like it or not you miss out on so much by being this closed source system you know web flow have got to develop their own AI agent and it lacks the ability and and it's this interoperability between open source and and you know what makes things better is that I don't even need to be in Pinerow anymore. I I don't really need to care about the UI anymore because I'm just using the CLI. I'm just using the interface sort of thing. And it's such a shame that uh well not a shame because obviously different things work for different people but um when you are I guess it's just that closed source thing of like being locked in to something you don't get access to claw code inside of web flow unfortunately. Yeah, this is something that I uh talked about last week. By the way, I asked you if framer being more of proprietary tool is in disadvantage uh when it comes to AI being able to build structures and you know pull in from other sources. So this is speaking to that and it answers my question now today again in a new way. So it seems like something with something like uh pine grow and something that can work with open source obviously can pull in anything and you know put it together with AI. This is for the future to see like how good the AI will get and yeah uh for today like Pine Grow when I see that UI I'm like get me out. I'm sorry. I care about my own experience. I am a user and my user experience matters and Pinero uh it looks painful to look at the their UI. I'm obviously like I'm just a different breed like I watched a video just before this just before this stream. I'm just looking about this just to remind myself and long long story short is they it was it was an AI guy but he was like if you don't get your UI right then you will fail and I'm sorry my immediate response to that was I don't I doubt you're you're not very product minded like I go on as long as it works as long as it gets the job done you will s you know that's the most important important thing goes back to the tool that I showed you this morning and you were like well you said it doesn't look as bad as you thought it would but at the same time it's functional as af like it's it's that is what the that's all the clients really care about you know they care that it works that it gets the job done the UI comes very secondary and I guess I guess we just need to be who are we talking to here who who which which audience are we talking to and and how where UI plays a role in that. But I'm definitely under the thing of like if it gets the job done, if it earns you money, we can procrastinate on something not being great, you know, UI or it's this and it's that. But um if you can build something and then the next day someone's giving you money for it, you would not complain about the UI. But I don't know, different strokes, different folks at the end of the day. I agree. if if it can make money, the financial incentive is probably like the biggest incentive. AI work better on information they're trained on. So in answer to your question about proprietary and this and that, I mean it might not have the nuances on how frame are put together because it's abstracted and they do this that and the other. It all comes down to HTML. It all comes down to raw HTML. You know, it doesn't matter if it's 10 divs created, you know, before then there's a link. The point is that it's created through HTML which AI are constantly trained on. So I don't think there's necessarily disadvantage from that perspective. I just think there is a diff disadvantage on the options available like what pine grow I was going to say porn grow then uh what pine grow um are offering is this intersection with claude code and and now codeex uh that that it now works and you just have that flexibility and and that interoperability is something I'm very much in favor of. I don't like be I will I would recommend Web Flow for a very select group of people. Uh if you want it to be allin-one and easier and whatever, but from my perspective, once it gets to a certain size, you probably want to think about moving away from something like Web Flow just because it's it's just going to hold you back. It's it's like a goldfish living in a goldfish bowl, you know? Um it depends on the scope and the needs, obviously. Yeah. So anyway, I like to see that Pine Grow is still doing well. It has a special place in my heart and um you know, UI aside, it is is it's a pretty cool tool for building static and WordPress websites. So this is part of a larger conversation on my show, Command AI, which we stream live every single week. We discuss the news and all things related to AI in the world of design and web. Catch us next week and join in the banter.
