This was a bit of a a roller coaster. Wind surf open AAI acquisition that fell through and then like a Ryzen Phoenix came out on top by being purchased by Devon. Beginning of the week, the $3 billion deal with um Open Ally fell through. That was kind of like a shocker for a VS Code fork. Then the key leadership including CEO Varon Moham and co-founder Douglas Chen joining Google DeepMind to focus on coding efforts. Did OpenAI fall through and then they were going or did they plan to go and like did OpenAI cancel because they found out they were going to Google? What sucks is that just the founders or just a few top people got acquired and the rest of the team was kind of like left left behind. M it kind of all seemed like it was a disaster. And then Devon, I don't know if you remember Devon. I actually did a video on Devon because they reached out to sponsor a video. Don't know the details of how much they bought. Um but they did buy the intellectual property rights, the products, the brand rights, and all of the employees of Windsurf except the ones that left, right? Once Claude or Anthropic found out that they were being purchased by OpenAI, they retracted uh the access to Claude through Windsurf. But since all of it has fallen through and Devon's now purchased, Claude has now been re reinstated in in Windsurf. Very uh very petty. But then you're you're giving away intellectual property at the end of the day and bit of a roller coaster adventure for these two companies. Silicon Valley drama. Windsurf released things in waves and I think we're on wave 11 or something right now. So Windsurf announced wave nine and I think they reserved so many of their features or their their you know whatever for enterprise and team accounts. I think I remember saying something along the lines of it feels like they're going to they're trying to go for the enterprise coding environment like but they finally got what they wanted. I don't know how much for no one knows how much for just yet but they finally got what they wanted. I think uh I'm happy that the you know the rest of the team is not screwed over. No, that is true. like they and I they they really they called out like the commitment to the people obviously wanting to make sure that people feel heard, people feel welcome, people feel like there's not going to be a lot of crazy kind of shakeups there because of course with those two uh senior leaders going I can imagine a lot of the staff being you know a bit anxious and we'll see in the upcoming weeks whether we see a mass massive exodus of wind surf employees. This is part of a larger conversation on my show, Command AI, which we stream live every single week. We discuss the news and all things related to AI in the world of design and web. Catch us next week and join in the banter.
