Tesla has unveiled a new Roadster that hops, flips and does 0–60 in under a second, with thrusters that run on air. Sam and Kabarza break down the live demo, the jet-powered launch, the three tiers (including the invite-only "full fly" one), the $250k reservation price, and why they doubt it will ever be street legal.

If you have been living under a rock, then you might not have seen, but basically Tesla built a flying freaking car. Command AI And Yeah. it they they did this demo. Let's try and see if we can time it. So, they're chatting. And here we go. Let's just watch it. [music] This is just insane. Oh, intense. [music] And they did this because they wanted to prove it was an AI or SI. He that up. [laughter] This was insane when I saw this. I was like, "No way." Absolutely crazy. And the actual tech behind it is even more crazy. There we go. Look at that. Yeah. It's like back to the future. Exactly. Because of the look also, it is completely back to the future. I have so many questions. I don't want to be skeptic. I'm not Like, look, this is beyond impressive. [music] Oh, man. [laughter] It flips almost cartoonish. And then one final thing is this can go naught to 60 in under a second. And the way it does it No, not that one. for it. This it is. Like insane. And then you see an overhead view just a second. This is This is a real car. We'll get into it. This is a real car. They do a slow mo from the top down. I want to point something out. These things here, these little lines the the break in the thrust, that's it breaking the sound barrier. So, it's breaking the sound barrier. So, I don't know the science behind it, but they call these like diamonds or something like that. That's how hard this thing is blowing. Oh, yeah, blowing, I guess. You know. Yeah. So, Imagine what it does to your balls. That's what I'm worried That's what I'm worried about because By the way, this is a production car as far as Elon Musk's mouth takes him. This is going to be a production car that they're going to make in 2020A. And you can buy the normal performance car, so that's the base model. I think that starts at quarter of a million. Um Yeah. And then you get the thruster one as a as an addition. And I think that's what we just saw there with the jets behind it. And then you get the full fly one, which is invite-only. But, all that to say, the thrusters, they're not they don't require any fuel. They suck air into them. And you know, they just they just run off air, which is crazy. You pay 5,000. Uh it's fully refundable refundable. But, then due within 10 days. I'm not sure 10 days of what? Like after today? You're due 250,000. Well, 245,000 more. Basically, it's it's quarter of a million to lock it down. For a week Get into the absurdity of all of this. How much is the performance version? Uh it's the same. Oh, oh, no. It's Yeah, you're right. That's what I was saying. It was it was 50, yeah. So, Yeah. Yeah. that car is not going to be 50 gra Yeah. That car will not be 50 grand at launch. Which makes you think that the quarter of a million is not the final price cuz Exactly. Tesla Y is like 30, 40 grand, right? This one is not going to be 50 grand, so yeah. You would not be able to use this on the the road, right? This would be private land only to do this for a start. This thing is absolutely loud. It's the loudest thing you can have. There's a thing in the stream where they you can hear how loud it is and they stop talking to let it sort of yeah, whatever. So that's our only indication. Yeah, this is loud. So if you think like in your neighborhood you're going to do this. This is pretty much like having a mini rocket. This is literally a mini rocket. Let's see because it in the past 10 years every few years they've been showing us a new roadster and they've been saying like it's going to be worth it when it comes out and it never comes out. And something we just we did forget men to give mention. This is completely different from the original Cybertruck that people put money down for. They promised that original roadster was old school Porsche vibes, you know, it's well maybe not old school Porsche vibes, but it's definitely more of a traditional car vibes. Definitely no flight mode. And then this got released. It'll be interesting to see what the original roadster orders, the people who put money down for that, what they're about to receive. This is part of a larger conversation on my show Command AI which we stream live every single week. We discuss the news and all things related to AI in the world of design and web.
