In this video we talk about Meta postponing its “Avocado” AI model until May, why the performance is being described as falling between Google’s Gemini 2.5 and Gemini 3, and what that says about Meta possibly backtracking on the open-weight/open-source route. We also get into the real tension behind Zuckerberg spending millions on a so-called dream team, the internal drama of people coming and going, and the bigger lesson: you can’t just throw money at AI progress and expect it to work, all as part of the broader Command AI live show conversation.

So, Meta postpones postpones avocado their AI model until May. Command AI. I was thinking about Meta and like what are they even doing? Like they were they were trying to go down the open open weight route and open source route and stuff like that, but I think they've backtracked on that. And I think Cabaza's input into this whole conversation piece is that you know, if you release an AI model, it's got to be better in some way. It's got to got to be better in some way. And they're quite simply saying the performance of Meta's new AI model is currently falls between Google's Gemini 2.5 and Gemini 3, which is just it's meh. And I also wonder if this is their closed source model because we don't actually expect all that much from Lama cuz it's an open source model. Uh they call it avocado. Um slated for the first first quarter launch. So, we're coming up to the end of the first quarter. So, yeah. Um Meta's still chugging away there, but to be honest, I think Zuckerberg's spending all those millions on all those people, that dream team, which by the way I think has its own set of dramas going on with the people inside of it coming and going and not working well together. Just goes to show you that you can't just dump a bunch of you can't just throw money at a problem and expect it to work. So, yeah, good luck, Meta. This is part of a larger conversation on my show, Command AI, which we stream live every single week. We discuss the news and all things related to AI in the world of design and web. Catch us next week and join in the banter. Command AI.
