Git wasn't built for AI agents

Git is built for offline work: every clone is a full copy of the repo that can work out diffs, history and blame on its own. Anthropic says that design started holding them back. Scion assumes agents are always online, so a server answers questions about file history and blame instead of every clone doing it. Would you move off Git? From Cmd+AI episode 70, our weekly live show covering AI, design and dev. Catch us live every Friday and join in the banter. #CmdAI #AI #Anthropic #Git #AIAgents

Get G get is a decentralized system as I explained every clone is a complete self-contained repository that can compute diffs read history blame and check out uh any revision whilst fully offline. So the the big idea behind this is that um the properties that make git excellent for distributed offline work were actively undermining our ability to scale as a repo group. So we asked ourselves if we designed the source control with the fact that agents are always online in mind from the start, what would that look like? So that's the that's the component to this that the everything's online. You're always connected and every client is capable of being a full-fledged server. In Scion, the server answers questions about the file history and blame. So it's a it seems like it's a wrapper around it that you don't ask the file directly. You ask the service in front of the code and it tells you command AI.
