Gemini is FINALLY in Chrome (But There's a Catch) ๐Ÿšจ

Google finally caved to the AI browser wars and put Gemini in Chrome. ๐Ÿš€ It does everything you expect - summarize pages, ask questions, reference tabs. But it's US only. ๐Ÿ˜• And it doesn't quite have the agentic doing things for you just yet. The one new feature that I liked? It's this recall feature. It's like your history through AI, which is actually a good feature. ๐Ÿคฏ But it's still passive. It reads, it tells you something, but it doesn't quite interact with the page. Imagine telling it to scroll down and add this to that. That would be something. Gemini in Chrome. I didn't know this until you added it and I'm really happy to see it. Wow. Comet and Dia have now got a notch nemesis. I mean, Opera have got one. Neon, I think it's called, but uh you know, yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, Google finally caved and uh to the AI brows awards and Gemini is now available inside of Chrome. But it has some catches. It does everything you expect. You know, it's not doing anything massively new. You can summarize pages. You can ask it questions. You can reference tabs. All of this stuff we've come to expect from an AI browser. Unfortunately, it's US only, which is a bit crap. I downloaded it. I tried to use it. I was like, where is it? I was like, it's US only, which is a bit of a shame. It doesn't quite have the agentic doing things for you uh just yet. And I feel like that's like the thing that you need to have like when you launch, you need to have that agentic because everyone can summarize, you know, we we've got plenty of tools to summarize uh web pages now, but it is what it is. The one new feature that I liked, maybe it's here somewhere. It's a recall. So, you can say like something like what was I looking at? Uh something to do with this, this, and this. Talk through get help mastery. Where is it? It's I mean, need I say more? It's a recall feature. So, that was quite a nice little addition. It's interesting, but this is like your history through AI. That that that's actually a good feature. And I wonder how far back it goes because of course it's Google. Of course, it's got your history, you know, whatever. So, I wonder if you can even go back, you know, what was I looking at two years ago? um and start digging into your entire history. But uh yeah, no idea. And just because we're in Europe, I'm talking about how far our data goes back because of GDP. Yeah. Yeah. Do they remove it after a year or something like this? I don't know. But um did they say anything about needing a subscription to because they actually have like a $4 subscription? I don't know if you knew that. I just want a prices page. I just want just want a prices page. Um, but you get it in work. I think you do actually because I remember seeing something you need workspace and you get it in workspace and stuff like that. So it might it still might be charged. Like I think we're far from people giving AI away for free to be honest. The only person to express some sort of concern on safety is Claude because they're waiting to release their extension and they're not doing it just yet because you can of course worm in a few prompts into the source code of your website which it will then you know it may I haven't seen any evidence of this but it you know it's just a very risky thing to tiptoe around where you can sort of manipulate an agent by writing prompts in your source code. So, um, now this is getting more mainstream. It's in a browser that is probably the most used browser in the world. I mean, I don't know whether you know that, which maybe it should be Chrome. Uh, or maybe Safari. Safari is also, but no, it's probably Chrome. Oh, yeah. Google Chrome is dominating. There you go. Look at that. I mean, I don't know when this was created, but whatever. For me, this agent is kind of like works passively in a way that it's not reads, it tells you something, but it doesn't quite interact with the page. But imagine telling it to to do things for you. Like what? For example, just scroll down the page and add this to the that that would be something very simple. But it could go into more complex things. anything from um for example the one that I mentioned in Instagram like doing the commenting things maybe clean it up maybe do a summary of what people are interacting could it like learn something from a YouTube video in the future learn something from a YouTube video and then do it for you in web flow or like in any tool that you use you've lost me now too much into the future oh I see what you're saying I see what you're Okay. I mean, I think that's I'm I'm still stuck on the the the console thing, but I think technically you should be able to do that. Um, but I've that was one of the first things I tried, which was take this information and put it in the CMS in Web Flow and it just could not figure it out, you know. But that's the No, no, no. That was just having Web Flow and one browser tab open and the information I wanted to transfer in another browser tab. I said, "Take it from that, put it in there." And it couldn't figure it out. Uh, but they can't like interact yet. It can, but it just couldn't figure it out. Ah, okay. Yeah. Yeah.
